    Linked Tables

If I move an excel file to a new location and need the linked table to look at the new location, how do I change it?

I am using Access 2000, so I can't tell you exactly where to look, but you need to find the linked table manager. Select the table (linked excel file) and go through the steps to relink it.

I was hoping there was a way to just change the path but if I am understanding you right, you are pretty much saying I have to delete the old table and create it again from the new location?

The actual path to the excel file is stored in a system table that you cannot (and should not) modify.

Find the "Linked Table Manager". It allows you to select just the excel file (linked table) that you want to change and re-link it to the new location. I use this all the time when testing modifications on test back ends......

The other way is to delete the linked excel file, then create a new link to it in the new location.

Either way does the same thing.......
