June, one place it won't work (for me anyway) is in a query criteria, so maybe you were thinking of that. I use it all the time in situations like this to display fields from a combo.
So I was partially correct. Good, thought I was going nuts. I just haven't had much need for multi-column and/or cascading comboboxes.

I figured it out. When I copied the other subform it copied some of the code which applied to the other subform. Deleted that out and it came right up
