    Can't create new Form

Not real familiar with Access (as you'll soon see), but I was able to create 2 tables - one for "Clients" and one for "Jobs". Each client has a Client ID in the Client table and a join was made to the Client ID field in the Jobs table.

I created a Form based on the items in the Client Table and Jobs table, which lists all the information I need. The form drew the Client details (name, phone, etc), but I can't create a new record.

I want to use this form to a) enter the Client ID number and have it populate the Client details and b) enter new job information.

Any advice on fixing what I've done wrong would be a big help!

    Thanks!

What is the relationship between Clients and Jobs? 1:1, 1:m?

That is normally represented with a Form/SubForm arrangement. Is that what you are using?

No, just a basic form. I created something similar in Access 2003 (don't recall how I did it) that suited my needs, but was too lazy to dig out the old computer and copy the database off onto a thumb drive. Since this new laptop had Access 2010, I figured I try to wing a new one. Sounds like I better just get the old file out - assuming it will open OK in 2010.

The SubForm displays the many side of the relationship so that you can add additional records to that side.

When you set up the LinkChild/MasterFields of the SubForm Control correctly, Access will complete the ForeignKey for you.
