    Why The White Box?

This applies to either v97 or v2003:

When I and run an action query, say a make table query, that uses as its data source a linked table (the linked table is a table in a datawarehouse), if I click off Access, say to go to another application, and then click back on Access, many times the screen will be blank and at the top left hand corner of the screen there will be a white box..

This doesn't happen all the time, but maybe 90% of the time. Sometimes, maybe 20% of the time, it will clear itself and show the intial access screen with the status bar/progress meter and the query will run to its completion. At other times, it will never complete.

This does this whether the Access db is stored locally or on a network..

Any ideas on why it does this and of course how to stop it if possible, are appreciated!

Usually is just a repaint issue due to memory and processor being locked up on the query. Add DoEvents either before or after the query opening to see if that will release it.

(I don't think reinstalling Office is going to help)

I'll try that. I don't think it needs reintstalling either.

I think it has something to do with going over a network and when there's lots of data. For example, if I run an update or make a table that takes a few seconds or couple of minutes, I won't have this issue. But if it takes a long time..say longer than 10 mins, it usually happens.

The processer being locked on the query sounds exactly like what happens.

    Thanks..!
