how to get auto numbering on continuous form records

I have a form of view type "continuous forms" that is returning records based on a query, and I want the records to have a number label like 1, 2, 3.. in the order listed:

Is there any way to generate a label or textbox automatically there?

    Any help is appreciated! Thanks

I don't have the ability to test this right now, but have you tried putting the value of the CurrentRecord property of the form in that text field? It seems it may put the "number" of that record into that field (hopefully with the results you were hoping for). I have had some trouble using thiproperty reliably in the past, but you can give it a shot.
