    The buttons on the form do not have any Events set. You have VBA code but nothing associated with the buttons. Give the buttons some code then post revised file.

    Other suggestions:

    Could make the user name textbox a combobox with a RowSource of available user names.

    Use input mask in the date textboxes to make sure users enter a specific date format.

    Check out tutorials here http://www.datapigtechnologies.com/AccessMain.htm
    Go down to the 'Access Forms: Tips' section and look at the CustomFilter and Search Form tutorials.

    Hi June, thank you for the reply,

    i have attached code for the relevant controls.. but there are still errors;

    Data is filtered based on date range regardless of user name, and also there is no msg displayed for blank dates as well as blank user name..
    if you can correct the following then it's ok

    User must input (1) user name, (2) start date and (3) end Date
    there should be necessary error messages if any of these is left blank.
    data can only be filtered base on the conditions set by the above 3 text boxes
    pls help me to correct the errors

    Here is revision of your project with suggestion for the search form setup. I will remove the file after you respond or in a few days.

    EDIT: Purpose served, file removed.
