    Sharing an Assess DB

    Hi All,

I have just set-up an access DB and I need to share it was someone on the same local network.

They DB will rarely be edited and it will only be shared with one other person.

What is the best solution for this? I have MS Sharepoint, if thats the best option. Also, I need it to be a simple and reliable solution as I'm not very good with computers.

    Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If only two people are using it and rarely modifying it then you can both use the same front end, it will not likely create conflicts. Just give both yourself and this one other person a shortcut on your desktop (or other convenient location) and you should be fine.

Many Thanks, rpeare, but how would I create this short cut? Sorry I'm not very good with computers.

    Cheers

    Alex

right click your application, choose 'create shortcut' then cut and paste that shortcut to your desktop or other easy to access location.

Many Thanks. I'm ok with the normal shortcut, and I have such a shortcut on my desktop. But how would I make the shortcut to the same db on another computer?

I already answered that :P making a shortcut is the same on any computer, just go to the secondary computer, find the database in your directory structure, right click the database on that computer, create a shortcut and move it to wherever that user will find it handy. It's no different than if it were your machine (especially if you both have network drives mapped the same way)

If you don't have a network, or you are storing your database on your local drive and the other person doesn't have access to your machine that's another matter
