    Locked Design View

    i have downloaded the attached DB. I tried to open forms, querrys etc but the design view button is locked.

    How can I lock or unlock this design view.

    First, thank you for downloading my database... HOWEVER, it is an .MDE which is why you cannot go to Design View.

    That's an mde; you need the mdb it was created from.

    I think you meant .MDB file? You can't *make* one... I have the master.MDB file. What is it you want to do? As in, is there some functionality in that database you are trying to apply to your own database?

    actually I want to lock the my database so no one can see the codes in querrys and forms. i.e design view is locked

    and i have figured out how to make .mdb file.
    my database is big so thats why i cannot create .mdb file

    Can you tell me what is the purpose of mdb or mde file. why one needs to make mdb or mde file?

    Making and .MDE prevent Users from modifying forms and other design objects by *stripping* those elements from the file. Truely, it has no other purpose for me. Now if you don't want people to *mess* with your database then do so. However, you made the statement you can't make one? The size of the file should not prevent you from making one. Other reasons like decomiled code would do that.

    Also, if you plan to create an .MDE you must put in proper error handling or the database will *crash* on all unhandled errors.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
