Time Stamp when field is populated

    Hello,

I have a tbl that includes a datestamp column for when a record is created within it.

But I need to go a step further, one of the fields in this tbl is "birthcert#". I need a datestamp to auto-fill when this column is populated.

There are three ways this column is populated - An automated code process, manual data entry into a frm (frmchild), and manual data entry directly into the tbl (this is the least often used).

Is there a way to datestamp one field based on when another is filled out? Could it be as easy as adding a formula into the default value in the tbl properties?

Your help and insight is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Sunny

I don't think default property can have an expression or reference to another field, at least I can't make that work.

If you do the data entry directly in the table or query (definite no-no's) cannot trigger the datestamp field to populate. This has to be done by code.
