Question ODBC Call Failed after Office upgrade

We have an Access 2000 database that links to 3 tables in MySQL. The program has worked fine for years, and continues to work fine on PC's that still have Office 2003/Access 2003 installed on them. However, we have started upgrading some PC's to Office 2010 Pro. On these machines, we can open the Access database, but as soon as we try and open a form that accesses the MySQL tables, we get an ODBC Call Failed error.

I thought if I upgraded the table to Access 2002/2003, that it might help so I created an upgraded version but it didn't help. I also tried upgrading the table to Access 2007, but we still get the same error.

Most of the PC's we have used a runtime of Access 2000 to open this file. I've noticed that the runtime is gone from the PC's that were upgraded to 2010.

Anyone have any ideas on how to correct this issue?

    Hi,

I think you need a new DSN for Office 2010. Certainly so if you're using a 64 bits version. You can use the "Linked Table manager or Link To "ODBC databases" options in the "External Data" tab in the ribbon to achieve this.

Its been long enough ago that I didn't recall if I did a File or System DSN. I tried System first, but got a message "You cannot use ODBC to import, export to, or link an external Microsoft Access or ISAM database table to your database. When I try to do it as a File Data Source, I get a message "the File Data Source was not saved".

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
