In Access 2003 and earlier it would be better to store the path to the file in a text field in a table and then use the follow hyperlink command (via VBA code).How do you open .pdfs from a switchboard?
In Access 2007/2010 you can actually store the file within Access.
Since you seem to have multiple versions of Access, I'm not sure which approach you would want to use.
Currently, i am using 2010. i've just gotten used to it Lol.
You will want to check out the attachment field data type.
