I will assume you have forms in this system. I have not heard of any issues with Access 2007 such as you described so I would look carefully at your "Application". Do you use an AuditTrail of some sort? That might give you a means to determine what is happening.

Furthermore, I've never heard of a virus written to hijack Access databases. That would, more or less, be a waste of time for hackers. I doubt anyone would want to pay for that service.

I have however, recently contracted a worm that password protected by BIOS setup on my IBM machine. It also takes up more than 50% of the processor attention the entire time the machine is on. That's about the most sophisticated one I've ever seen! The computer's basically worthless now.

    Adam,
I suppose you know that simply removing the battery will kill the password and default the BIOS values.

no I didn't! But...the virus was contracted without a battery in the machine. ac only. would that kill this idea?

Ahh...a laptop. It has an additional coin type battery inside that needs to be removed for a while. The service manual should be able to show you where and how. There may even be a jumper that when closed will kill the BIOS values. The coin battery is easier.

    what's a jumper, Allan?

I bought this IBM on Ebay, so there's no manual. Too long of a search on the web, too. Also, I tried to get to the BIOS to boot from an XP disc when the recovery system was shut down by the virus.

This is pretty sophisticated...(maybe I should not give it to my brother anymore? )

There are lots of options here. What is the model number of the machine?

    Allan,

The hard drive failed on this machine. LOL! what a great purchase of mine, eh? I actually just bought another one and forgot about this one. I might try this battery technique later, so keep this one in your subscriptions!
