OK, this may seem like a trivial issue. When I first joined the forum in 2012 I certainly was a Novice. But, six years later I have gained a lot of experience. Does anyone know how to change the experience designation on a user profile?
Thanks

Default is based on number of posts I believe.
Settings/Edit Profile/Custom User Title
Thanks, Paul. I haven't done a lot of posting so that probably explains it.
True, as I found out and posted about a while back when I was asking about how my VIP label came about.
Afterwards and based on someone else's activity as an example, it became apparent that all you had to do was ask a zillion questions to become a VIP, which is why I found another meaning for that moniker. Kinda made it less important/impressive to me. I'd rather have been appointed by my peers.
The more we hear silence, the more we begin to think about our value in this universe.

I agree with both the OP & Micron
Although I joined in 2014, I only started posting here regularly in Dec 2017.
I also decided my experience level was inappropriate and changed it (to something essentially meaningless).
I've no idea what the automatic level would assign me to now as I haven't tried it
I'm surprised to hear that VIP status appears to be awarded on the number of posts here.
That essentially means someone can post poor advice regularly and become a VIP.
I can think of a specific example of this - someone not involved in this thread ....
On another forum, where I am a VIP/moderator, both of these statuses(?) / stati(?) ARE awarded by peers which I feel is a much better system
Huh. Never paid too much attention to that, but it had me as VIP, so I changed it to something more appropriate...
Edit: Which I see did not work.

LOL. Brilliant answer from davegri .
So, if its automatic, I'm guessing VIP status is awarded at around 1000 posts.
Perhaps a site admin will be able to enlighten us....?
Very nice offer, Paul.but I think I can change it if you tell me what you want.
I like "Excess Access"
Hmm, apparently the user manager will let me see all your settings but not change them. I'll ask the admins.
As you may have noticed, I changed mine. Maybe your attempt exceeded the allowable character limit.
I really wanted Virtually Inert Procrastinator since the 2 last words made a great pair. Alas, it was too long.
Aha! I go it to work! Didn't realize there was a "Save Changes" button scrolled off the screen at the bottom.
