Question Updating / Setting Source of Unbound OLE PDF Object in Access Report

    Hello'

With an image control in a report where multiple records are present, I am setting the image control source to the value of a text field which has the UNC path to the image. Easy...works. Each record shows its respective image.

Trying to do the same with PDFs instead of images...

I used an Unbound OLE Object,

    OLE TYpe Allowed = Link

    OLE Class = Adober Acrobat
    Class - AcroExch.Document.7
    Update Options = Automatic
    Display Type = Content
Enabled = (Tried both Yes & No)

    Is this not possible?
    From the few threads i've read it seems that;
    a) Changes to the same Source Doc will fail to display https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/183277 (there was essentially a same article for ACC2000)
    b) You can change the source doc itself to resolve the issue Solved: unbound OLE PDF Object in Access Report does not update

Unfortunately that thread is marked as solved using a workaround that only applies to a single record scenario.
As I have multiple records being reported, this method doesn't work as the report will still display the same source doc for all records.

So... how do I display a different source doc (PDF) in the Unbound Object Frame for each continuous report record?

The image control is BOUND to a field. you dont change it in a report.
you set it in the table, then report on the table.

That is correct / what I am doing for the image control. How can I apply this to an Object Frame...

This would then require manual steps to be taken by the end user with a PDF writer... looking to automate it.

The only way I know Access can display PDF is in Browser Control on form. I don't think they can be displayed within a report at all.

I've never used OLEObject controls - my few attempts to do so have been unsatisfactory.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

Yeah, I think I'm going to leave it at that. I can get a single PDF into the OLE OBJECT control but stretching etc is all handled very poorly. So even if I did get the OLE OBJECT dynamically loading objects per record, my main purpose (to load PDFs) wont turn out well in the end anyway.

So I guess I will leave it with only supporting Imagery (for embedding) / supporting other objects solely via hyperlinking.

Seems like the proper solution in this case would be to rely on Acrobat Automation which is something I will need to learn from scratch. no worries.
