I have a Access 2007 database (.mdb) file installed on one computer that is on a Linksys network to a 2nd computer. I want to be able to enter data into computer #1 while reading the data on computer #2. The 2nd computer would never modify the database, only read. Currently I am sharing the database by having it installed in the \Public\Documents directory. When I open the database in one computer it locks the data so the other computer cannot get to it. First come first served. The first computer to open the database creates a locking file that prevents #2 from doing anything.

Can this be done? How do I do it. I have tried to set the permissions so only computer #1 can have full read/write/edit permission. #2 can only read. Where might I read something that would help me. The Microsoft help is not much help.
