    Can't attach to email

I went to attach my mdb to an email and I can't see it in my folder/directory where I keep it.

I can see it using My computer.
Is there a switch that will allow me to send or not sent mdb as attachments?
I was trying to use Outlook express.
    I am using access2007

You should compress the MDB into a .ZIP file before attaching.

Most email filters/virus protection will not allow a .mdb as an attachment.

    Still can't see file

I tried winzip and can't see the mdb file in it's attach file window. I can still see it in my computer.
I can still open it using access.

In access2007 where is the compress on close switch?

I have sent samples of my mdb to severals and have not had any problems.
If I create a copy I have the same problem.
If I create a new mdb I have not problems attaching it.
The problem is the original master can't been seen to zip, or attach to an email.

Is there a switch in the Access Options that I may have activated to prevent attaching to emails?

When selecting the file, make sure that in the selection dialog form that you have the tile types set to All (*.*). This is usually at the very bottom of the form.

    Backup! Backup!! Backup!!!

I never use the corrupt on close ... oops ... the compact on close option. I have found it just to dangerous. It is possible that the compact can fail and destroy your database beyond repair. I have done it. I find that it is always best to make a backup of the database before compacting.

    Backup! Backup!! Backup!!!

In 2007 make sure that you have SP2 installed. IIRC, it was in the first release of Access 2007 the compact on close would delete your database. In know people that lost hours of work by using this option in 2007. In most cases I was able to help get the file back of they contacted me immediately. AFAIK, it was supposed to be fixed in SP2

    Backup! Backup!! Backup!!!

Just to be sure, have you verified the location (path) of the mdb?

Where is it located when you do a search?

Yes, I imported the data, now rebuilding the queries, forms and reports from scratch.
I can see the new one mdb when I go into my outlook email so I can attach it.
so far so good I keep testing it as I go along.
