    DDE Function gone?

    Access 2003 SP3
    WinXP SP3

I can't get the DDE function to work in my form. For example, when I use "paste link" to put a copied cell from Excel into the form, I get this formula:

    =DDE("Excel","C:\Documents and Settings\me\My Documents\[Book1.xls]Sheet1","R1C1")

but when I view the Access form I just get ?Name#

Its as if the DDE function no longer exists. Any ideas?

    did you miss a "!"?
    =DDE("Excel","C:\Documents and Settings\me\My Documents\[Book1.xls]!Sheet1","R1C1")

Nice try, but same error. I don't think its getting past the "DDE" part of the formula.

I've never used it, but it shows in both 2000 and 2007 help, so it should still be there. I did a brief test in 2000 and it worked.

Thanks for doing the test. This functionality worked fine for us in Office97 as well.

Can anyone confirm that DDE functionality is missing in Access 2003?

I would be surprised if it was gone, given that it's in 2000 and 2007. I had 2003 on an old laptop, but I gave it to my step-daughter so I can't verify.
