Is there a way to UnSecure a database?

One of my peers in IT unexpectedly passed away and left behind a secured MS access 2003 database. There are two security groups created called Admins & Users. I don't have access to the original mdw file that he was using.

Is there a way that I can become a member of the Admins group or is there a way to remove the security all together?

I'm not an Access guru by any means, but have been given the task to try and remove the security so that I can take ownership of his db.

I understand that you probably might not want to openly share how to do this, but could we possibly correspond via email if there is a way to do it?

    Thanks, Dave

I'll have to ask a few more questions when I get back to work on Monday to see whether the MDW file was on a network drive together with the MDB. Would that typically be how someone would set this up? That's all I have in my posession right now is a copy of the MDB file on my local computer. Hopefully the MDW file wasn't on the guys local computer under his windows profile.

What are the next steps depending on if I can get the MDW file or not?

I have a copy of the mdw file now also. I've tried the PasswordExtractor, but can't seem to make it work with Access 2007.

Their is a produdure to open the file locked in by mdw file. Try the first easy one.
1:Open the mdw file by double clicking it. It should open without a password. Find the admin user name.
Create the same name window user account through control pannel(as administrator ). Log in this user and open the mdb file. If this file open and ask for password than you had crack open the mdw file lock. let me know and i will give you a program to crack the pasword.
2: Try the first method if fail than i will tell you the second method which is more lengthy method but 100% tested method
    Best of luck
