Form displays no controls when source have no records.

If the source table or query have no records, the controls on the form display in design view, but do not display in form view.

Somebody probably taught me the solution some years ago, but today I do not remember what to do (embarrassed), even after searching a lot. Thank you.

Why does this happen? Is AllowAdditions property set to No?

Hi CJ. If a new user starts using the app from starters and want to capture the first record, the controls must display to be able to capture the first record.

Hi June7. As on the image, AllowAdditions property is on YES. June, I do not know why it happens, but I see the request many times on other forums, I haven't seen a solution today yet. If I got it right, I experience it sometimes, and sometimes not. It is a long time since I last started capturing a first record in a table through a form, but I would like to finally learn and note the solution.

I would bet that the source query won't allow additions. It doesn't matter what the form setting is if that's the case.

Edit: open the source query and see if you can add a record there.

Hi Paul. Some people on forums do believe setting Data Entry to No will make a difference. I do not experience that.
Yes, I can add a record in the query.
If there is one record in the source, after opening the form the controls then display.

Can you attach the db here, or a representative sample?

"q06PrgmmngSbjcts" is the name I gave to the applicable query, the source for the form applicable here.
I just opened a new DB in Access, created 1table, linked one query and a form, with no records.
The result is the controls display, proving me otherwise?
I will use a bit of time to prepare a small part of my app where this occur and then post it.

with allow additions set to yes, then the 'new entry' should appear for the user to complete. However if your recordsource is not updateable, it won't. So I would check your query is updateable.

edit - just seen there are additional posts suggesting the same thing

The query is updateable. I am studying Micron's reference, and preparing a sample which I will post. As you know sometimes things just get fixed without knowing why.
