Talking Getting "The command or action 'Find' isn't available now." message

    Hi all

I've looked on this forum and various other sites and not been able to find a solution to this problem.

I have a form that has a button on it that opens the standard Access 'Find' command.
    Code:
    DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acEditMenu, 10, , acMenuVer70
The form is opened from another form.
    Code:
    DoCmd.OpenForm "frmCustomerInformation", , , , , acNormal
When the form is opened using the above code, the the Find function works perfectly.

However I want to open the the form as acDialog (relates to my previous post https://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=87668)

    Code:
    DoCmd.OpenForm "frmCustomerInformation", , , , , acDialog
Seems that when a form is opened using acDialog, the command or action 'Find' isn't available.

If I open the form acNormal, and set the forms property to Dialog, the 'Find' function works, however the issue I experience in my previous post arises again.

Has anyone had any experience with this or maybe offer a solution?

Dialog is a state where you cannot interact with any other db object until the dialog is dismissed, so no find function. If dialog solves your hover colour issue, I'd say you have to make a choice between functionality and minor eye candy details.

I hate having to make choices, but I think you may be right.

Either that or build my own search function
