importing formatted text from excel to access and using Right to left text direction

    Hi,

    Two questions:

    1. How can i import data from excel to access where one of the excel column has formatted text (such as bold words in the text). i tried importing it, but access converts all the text in that column into plain text.

    2. Some of the text is in Hebrew which goes from right to left. I used the align right button plus the Right to left text direction button to fix the problem. However, while the align button works for the entire column in one click, the right to left text direction button only words for one cell at a time. How can I click that button for the entire column at once?

    Thank you

With regards formatting, no can do. Importing imports the underlying data only. You maybe can set the field type to rich text, but I’ve never tried it.

Thank you... Does anyone know of a larger spreadsheet than Excel (i.e., much larger than 1 million rows) where i can import or copy paste data from excel that has formatted text into that other spreadsheet?

Not aware of one - this tells you about google sheets - max 10m cells (i.e. 1m rows x 10 columns)

and a mention of BigQuery but that is a data warehouse and no idea if that will retain formatting.

Did you try my suggestion of importing into a richtext field? (i.e. memo or longtext depending on your access version). That may preserve your formatting

I tried importing to Rich Text field and doesn't help.

Rich Text formatting accomplished in Access with HTML code tags stored with data. No idea what Excel does.

Have a look at his link, you might be able to implement something using Daniel's tool and maybe a web browser control into you would load the Excel file and copy the formatted cell into the HTML editor.
