What's the best way for newbie to ask for help?

Hello - I've just joined this forum with the hope of getting some answers to what I think (?) are fairly basic questions. I know that different forums have different preferred approaches for seeking help, so I want to check on that first.

The last databases I developed were using Access some 20+ years ago. I was never an expert, and I'm certainly behind the times now. Nonetheless, I've taken on the task of developing a database for the equipment inventory of an astronomy club that I belong to.

I'm pretty sure that I'm not trying to do anything too complex or unusual, but I'm so rusty that I'm having trouble even getting started. I don't want to ask anyone to do the work for me, but I have a series of questions I'd like to ask.

Is it okay just to post them all here and let other members decide how much they want to instruct me? Should I put all the questions on one post, or is it better to have a separate thread for each question?

Thanks in advance - I'm looking forward to whatever help people here can offer.

    Bruce

I would say one task at a time.
That is how I would approach it.
There are plenty of inventory access db out there. Whilst it might give you a start, you have to learn how that programmer approached it. If you start from scratch, at least you will know each step.
Try to be precise. When we offer something, and it does not work in your db, don't tell us 'it did not work, I had an error message'. Tell us what the error number and description. We do not want to have to search for the description, well I do not, at least.
Post code within code tags, even if you supply a pic. We cannot copy code from a pic, and again I do not want to write it all out, I doubt others do.

You need to get the structure correct first, then move on to input/output.
Learn to walk before trying to run.

Great - thanks. That's all what I might have expected, so I'll go ahead and post my general design first. If it looks okay, then I'll get to specific questions.

Note: I did try to start with the basic inventory db that is included with Access, but since I've inherited an existing inventory in one massive ugly Excel spreadsheet, I'm finding it better to start from scratch.
