    Hi guy's again, thank you all for your input

    I still can't get the <mark> String </mark> tag to highlight the string result but picking out your suggestions, this does a nice job of making "ON Hold" stand out, I may change my other status results in a colour accordingly ie:

    green is ok

    yellow not in stock

    etc

    Code:
    strStatus = "At DMT Currently " & strFontStart & "<B>" & "<font color='red'>" & UCase(rs.Fields("Status")) & "</B></font>" & strFontEnd

    Not all HTML tags are supported by MS apps. Appears to be the case with <mark>.

    So the goal is highlighting text in an email body, not colouring it.

    EDIT - yes, that is by vba, not by the Outlook ribbon.

    If you prefer yellow background with black text:

    "<table><tr bgcolor='yellow'>THIS WILL CREATE BLACK TEXT WITH YELLOW BACKGROUND</tr></table>"

    or

    "<span style='background:yellow'>ALSO BLACK TEXT YELLOW BACKGROUND</span>"

    That's what I used.
