I too had never heard of application parts, or if I had they didn't turn on the the Idea lightbulb.
Funnily enough we have just been creating/cleaning up a library of common functions and basic menu forms between us at work.

It's hard work rationalising things when you have 4 similar, but different, versions of FileExists() type functions gathering dust in the corner of different apps.

Add a mint to the rogues gallery...

Actually I did already know about application parts and had made use of the feature as well as creating template files.

Initial discussion with a few developers had indicated this was a relatively unknown feature
It was for that reason that I had already planned to create a video on the topic in the near future.

This thread, inadvertently hijacked by the OP, had confirmed it would be useful

    Colin,

I now you are very busy, but was wondering if a video on Application Parts is still in the works.
I'm sure it would be useful. You're getting a good following because of your good work!!

    Hi @orange
I had completely forgotten about this thread and my offer to create a video on application parts.
I've now bookmarked it and added it to my list of things to do.

It won't be for some time though as I have a long backlog of things to do including preparing for my own Access Europe session on 7 Sept
Access Europe – Colin Riddington (Optimising Queries and the JET ShowPlan) – Europe – AccessUserGroups.org
Hopefully I'll see you & some other forum members at that session

Just rediscovered this thread by accident.
I did write a web article on this topic a few months ago which may be useful for reference: Application Parts and Templates (isladogs.co.uk)

    Better late than never Col.
I've been adding to my templates since this thread was started. They are incredibly useful.
Great idea to have one that sets all your usual form options, etc. That's on todays to-do list.

Its a pity the supplied application parts are so naff as it puts people off using what is a very useful (but massively underused) feature

I have not yet created any templates. If some templates are considered useful, and are shareable, could we add such to code or database samples in the forum(s)?
Moke123 seems to have quite an evolving collection that may be suited to others.
    Davegri's template(s) in post #1 is now a "tool" I use.

I'm sure we could. I move them between work and home on a flash drive. They are stored in C:\Users\<Your user name >\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Access. Its just a matter of dropping them in the folder and re-starting access.
