Web Control on Access Form - not clickable

I have added a Web Control to a Form and I use the ControlSource to point to a pdf file. All well and good the pdf displays nicely within the control. But now I want to take further action and I want the user to be able to click on the pdf image (it fills the Web Control) and take action based on his click. But nothing seems to fire - I have set every possible event of the Web Control (click, mouse up/down, key press/up/down) each with a simple MsgBox. but NOTHING happens.

I am loathe to superimpose a small button on top of the Web Control but this seems to be the only answer - unless someone knows better.

    Many thanks

Perhaps the control is corrupt, in which case you'd need to replace it with a new one. The click event should work but if not, it would not be because the control is disabled (at least in Access 2016) because it goes black when disabled. You'd certainly notice that.
