Access O365 keeps opening PDF in separate windows instead on in browser control

I have an access application that has been in use for over a year and recently I noticed that some machines will no longer open a PDF document in the browser control. Instead it keeps opening it in the browser or Adobe reader when installed. I've tried several other access apps with browser control to display pdf and they all exhibit the same problem. I've tried changing the default app for PDF to Edge, Chrome or Adobe (I did not see an option for IE) and it does not help. I did recently reconfigure my machine and had to install a fresh copy of O365. My Access app is 64 bit.

Yes you reconfigured it, but why does it matter? it opens.

The design of the app is for it to display the PDF in the form so the user won't have to deal with switching and closing windows in the background. It just seems to be related to PDF's. I can open excel or word documents in the form just fine.

How are you controlling the source property of the control, like Me.MyBrowserControlName.ControlSource = "=""C:\...\MyPdfName.pdf""" ?

I imagine it's an Adobe setting issue. Perhaps consider

    or the solution here

or do further research on "ms access pdf not opening in browser control" or similar. It seems to be a common issue and I get the sense that it's either due to Adobe settings or IE settings. If the problem pc's have one or the other Adobe product and they are having the problem, it would seem to point to Adobe settings as the culprit.

Thank you for your assistance but I finally figured out the issue. The machines experiencing the problem were missing or had the Adobe Reader add-on disabled in IE.

Possibly too late but a registry tweak will fix this issue. The Adobe reader add-in isn't required.
I've included that within the zip file along with an example app using a web browser control to view files in Access
