How to get Backend to Sharepoint so can link to its tables

    Hello,

I am working with Business 365, Sharepoint and Access.
I have split my database, and plan to distribute the Front End to our users, so that they can enter data and run reports, etc. through their Access software -- using links to tables that are on our SharePoint site.

But I can't figure out how to get my Back End to the Sharepoint site so that it is available for me to link to.

Also, I saved it to my pc for the moment, but is there a way that I can put the Back End on to the Sharepoint site as part of the splitting process?

(I would prefer to not have to convert my tables to SharePoint lists.)
(My understand that this is something different than just "storing" the backend there for backup purposes.)

    Thanks for any help!

I don't have experience with Sharepoint, but I recently saw this presentation by Albert Kallal which may offer some insight.
    Good luck.

Happy to help. If his material is helpful and you can move/use sharepoint as easy as Albert says, please tell us about your experience. It may help others.
    Good luck.

It was very helpful, however, I could make a video that addresses how to do this in 5 easy minutes. Will it be okay if I make a recording and upload a link here?

@louise, the SharePoint lists is the backend table storage, there's nothing to worry about. I've literally just finished doing a test for a very small Human Resources database of mine of the employees at our business which has proved to work well as I can access it via the FE access file on my PC here and another 40 mi away using a FE on that machine with synchronised data! This is incredible! I just need to figure out how to store files through an upload feature to the SharePoint site to store PDF's that can be called through a "Documents" tab on demand.

I say Go for it. If it can't be stored here, then store it on you favourite location and post link here.
I'm sure it would be helpful to those interacting with Sharepoint.
    Good luck

Hello orange, I managed to make the video in 10 minutes, 5 minutes was a bit to optimistic here's the video I made on how to link an Access front-end to a hosted SharePoint back-end data.

Good stuff Greg! I just watched the video.Voice is good, quality is good and has close captioning. I'm sure it will be helpful to Access/Sharepoint developers/followers.
    Looking forward to new discoveries/learning.
    Thanks for posting.

That’s a pleasure. Disclaimer: it’s best to first develop your database within Access normally before trying to reconfigure your tables on SharePoint. The naming of the data fields seem to change and the structure too, however, if you develop your database normally within Access, test it, then upload your working backend to SharePoint you don’t have any issues. I’ll try create a more advanced video soon but I think this hits the basics and does work.

Good work! I'm going to look into this further.

    I hope that wasn't Sarah's real info though 😬
