    Smile ODBC SQL Access Update

    Hello everybody,

    I need your help for a problem.
    I have change some column in SQL Database and now I want to do the same change on my Access Database (ODBC linked).
    But I have always this error: Operation not authorised...

    Can you help me ?



    Access version is 2016 and SQL 2017

    No real idea what you're doing when you raise this error. Perhaps trying to change a field name in a linked table in Access? IIRC, you cannot change design of linked tables and the linked table should pick up the changes made to the real table. If not, un-link it then re-link it in Access.
    - "doesn't work" doesn't help. Implement changes in copies of your database.

    Agree with @Micron - if you change the table structure (names or add fields) in SQL server you have to refresh the link in Access.
    That will automatically update the linked table to match.

    If that's not what you mean perhaps you could provide some more detail?

    Yes exactly i change the structure (varchar for a field) in SQL but the change is not made in access. How can I update this in Access as well?

    You have to refresh the linked table in Access. The simplest way is to right click the linked table in the navigation bar and select Refresh Link.
    That's it nothing more complicated.

    If that's not working then you aren't refreshing the correct table, or changed the wrong server version.
