    "Access" access problem

I recently purchased a new desktop (HP) which came with Office preinstalled. The company for whom I work uses Access for financial/budget information. I downloaded the zip file with the program in it and then proceeded to open the app. This is the error message I received:

The expression On Open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: The code in this project must be updated for use on 64-bit systems. Please review and update Declare statements and then mark them with the PtrSafe attribute.

    • The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a user-defined function, or [Event Procedure].
    • There may have been an error evaluating the function, event, or macro.

I may know what this means, but I certainly do not know how to fix it.
    Thanks,

    Did you Google that error?

    Maybe this will help https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/off...64-bit-systems

Even if you "fix it" now by adding PtrSafe to all the API declarations (see https://www.access-programmers.co.uk...ystems.273820/ for an example) you will need to redo it everytime your office issues a new update. I suggest you uninstall the current 64 bit version of Office and reinstall the 32 bit version (which should be no problem on a Windows 64bit laptop).

I have it on my desktop which I presume is just as easy as a laptop. I don't know how to uninstall 64-bit and install/reinstall 32-bit. Where can I see the instructions?
    thx

The preinstalled Office is usually a temporary (one month) trial, after which you need to purchase a MS Office license. You will need to uninstall the current Office 64 (under Control Panel\Programs). the run the install Office and make sure you choose 32 bit. I am sure you can find a lot of info by using a web search.
