You shouldn't lose any data - DateTime is Slightly less accurate (millisecond level) and than DateTime2

I believe there ae other subtle differences with the scope of dates covered as well, and storage differences in SQL as well, but nothing that will affect normal Date functions.

A list of the differences is here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql...l-server-ver15

After changing them you may need to refresh the links to update the data type mappings in Access in the front end.

    Back again

In regards to Azure SQL, can anyone explain to me what a DTU is as I'm getting conflicting information. I know its a blend of CPU / MEM / Read / Writes etc but:

    Is it:

    1. A measure of the performance of your "server", using a real world example, would a 10 DTU server be a Toyota compared to a 100 DTU server being a Porsche?

So paying for a higher amount of DTU just increases the performance of your server and thus SQL.

    or

    2. A unit of measurement of computer consumption? A real would example being fuel in a car, I have 10 DTU's worth of server fuel, and each server action uses a little bit and a little bit until I run out? (And thus get charged for the extra)

Just a bit confused on the whole thing really.

It is more like 1. than 2.

More DTU's is more "compute" power, so more overall Processing power.
To be honest unless you have a very heavy usage pattern stick to the lowest you can get away with.

To use your car analogy, 99% of the time the Toyota or the Porsche will bimble along between 30-50mph without any difference.
Very occasionally you might want to accelerate rapidly to 90Mph for 10 seconds, and one will do a better job than the other, but for the amount of use is it worth the extra $'s, probably not.

I think we are running about 15 completely separate business use databases on a 100 DTU elastic pool.
It only hits 100% usage once or twice a week for a few minutes.

Ah good, I was hoping it was number 1, yeah the database is small time so we should be fine, might even be able to drop down to 5 DTU when we actually have to pay for it.
