Ctrl C runs a parameter query instead of copying so I can paste with a new name, what changed?

    Hi,

I have been using Access for years and the one thing I would use is copy and paste, when I'm working with queries, I would copy and paste the query and give it a new name. For some reason, now when I do a control C it starts the parameter query, instead of just copying it.

I want to do what I have always done, select a query, then Control + C, then Control + V, and then give it a new name.

Not sure 2016 was updated, but I think that might have something to do with it?

    I hope someone can help?

    Thanks,
    Xavier Ramirez

No change in the behaviour of Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V. Perhaps your have set an autokeys macro and reassigned Ctrl+C??

When I get oddly unexplained behavior like this, restarting the computer will often fix it.

I did try powering the computer down completely and still having the same issue. Not sure about the auto key macro and reassignment? I did see a couple of posting where other users are having the same problem?

The problem started when Access was updated and now a table in a query has an orange/yellow boarder? Could it be maybe an update change that causing my problem?

This new feature is new in Office 365. You can now select multiple tables and move them as a group, or delete them.

I have seen this issue before at Mr. Excel. No idea why it happens, and it happens to me since my version of Access was updated after my laptop went bye-bye. The only solution I had was to copy the sql, open a new query and paste it in.

EDIT - tried something seeing as how I now experience the issue. Cancel the prompt then Ctrl+V will paste a new query. Of course you will get the Save As prompt.

The thing I figured out if I do a Control + C and then click on Cancel button from the Enter Parameter Value dialog box. Then Control + C you can now paste the query you just copied.

I hope MS fixes this issue?

    Thanks everyone for you help!

Hmm. In the navigation pane, I always right click, copy, right click paste. Easier than the keyboard.

Perhaps it is a 64 bit thing. I accidentally ended up with that when I had to reinstall. Now I have the issue.

I still have updates switched on. On this 32-bit desktop PC, I'm on version 2009, build 13231.20390. Something similar on the 64-bit laptop

Well, OP hasn't revealed what version and build so I guess that's all we can say 'bout that.

Could be a Windows upgrade. Since the last Windows upgrade @ work on my work PC ALT + F11 dosn't take me to the VBA window, but gives the adjust brightness feature. On my home computer and laptops all works as it did before.

Based on a new observation, I'd say no. That observation is that using same pc on the same day and same Access, it happened on one db I opened yesterday but not on the next (different) one. Both were downloaded from posters.
