sending txt messages

HI does anyone know how to have access send a txt message to a smartphone? I know how to have access send an email but i don't see any obvious way to send a txt message.
The idea being a form in my application would update itself and once a specific event took place (for example once a value reached a certain #) a txt message would be sent to a smartphone.

As the author of the thread referenced by @shadow9449, do look at the various links scattered throughout that lengthy thread.
Start with the online article from Twilio that got me started on the process
I created a text message and voicemail solution as part of a commercial application for schools.
The thread includes a significant chunk of my code but as its embedded in an app, I can't supply all the code I used
