OK, well it would be easier if you would post the dB - don't need the actual client info. Making a copy of the dB, deleting the data, adding a few records for testing purposes is enough. Use names like Herman Munster, Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, Fred Flintstone.
But we can play 100 questions....

    Her we go.........

    1) How do you identify a contact? Just using First and Last name? What happens if you have 8 John Smiths as clients? How do/would you pick the correct John Smith?
    2) Do you want to have a button to do the search? Or search after the First and Last names are entered?

Here is a demo. It is in no way finished.

There are two forms for you to test
The first form is "frmClientIdentification_Individual". Type in the name. If the name is found in the table, you will be taken to that record. If the name is not found, you will be asked if you want to add it to the contacts.

The other form is "frmSearch". Use the combo boxes to select an existing entry or type in a name. If the last name is not in the contacts table, you will be asked if you want to add it.

Again, this is just a demo (kinda)

when it comes to sensitive data, maybe there's always this...

Wow. This shows what a novice I am! This is fantastic! And exactly what I was looking for. Thanks very much Steve. I will now attempt to understand all that you did to create it! Really helpful!
