"Unable to Update. Locked by admin on..."

My users are getting an error message while processing on one of our forms. "Unable to update. Locked by admin on [Machine Name]." This happens anytime there are multiple people trying to use the form at the same time. Users are never in the same record at the same time as they are only seeing the records assigned to their User ID. The form is set to No Record Locks. Any idea what I did wrong? I'm unable to share the database due to company security policies.

What do you mean by share. The only way to have multiple users is to split the db and have a single back-end db (has just the tables) in a folder that every user has permission to use. Every user should have a copy of the front-end (has everything except the tables) which is linked to the back-end, on their own machine
If this helped, please click the star at the bottom left of this posting and add to my reputation . Many thanks.

If you do not split your dB, you had better have lots of backups. It is not a matter of IF your database will be corrupted, just a matter of WHEN!

What Steve said! The record, I believe, was set by a multi-user, non-split app that worked without problem, for 12 years...the went berserk!

Users being locked out...timing errors...and finally, corruption and catastrophic loss of data!

Sorry, the database is most definitely split and every user has their own front end. This is the only shared table.

I mean I can't post it here, even if I remove the data. It's federally protected info.

OK - since we cannot see the db, we are into guesswork, lets eliminate what you have already tried which did not resolve the problem. Please provide a list of what you have tried and what the outcome was - 'didn't work' is not acceptable. Do you get an error? no change? something else

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
