"Tenacious" was the motto of the first US Navy ship (USS FAHRION) I was assigned to many years ago. Tenacious = Persistent to the point of annoyance....
Good luck with selling the concept and system to your colleagues. If you can get some buy-in and support, it will "grease the rails" so to speak.
Some things that may help, if and when you have time:
-build some test scenarios and test your system to
--get more familiarity with the processes, remove any encountered glitches (if any)
--improve/ease any communication with likely audiences
-get a trusted someone who is interested in the forecasting/planning/comparison concept to learn/critique the set up. Be open to refinements - you want that person(s) to support the cause.
-design a "user training" guide/slide show/video as things get refined - it will help sell things.
-create a maintenance/operations manual -- you don't want to be the only one who knows the system(personal albatross)
