subreport not showing any data (ought to be basic simple)

Stripped down to it's basics, I've got a very simple subreport that is refusing to show any data

(it ought to be 'Subreports 101')

if I could (plz) get someone to take a look, and help me get unstuck on this.
    (attached)

    with many thanks in advance,
    m.

Master/Child Links are not using primary and foreign key fields. And for some reason doesn't like SubmittalID field in Child Link. Odd.

This report should actually be possible without subreport by using Sorting & Grouping features and aggregate functions. There is no need for the summary temp table.

well, out of frustration and blindness, I mucked around with the data... and now it's OK (odd)
BTW, I do get the Sorting and Grouping; what's not obvious i the snippet of the report is that the sub-report is actually an EXPANSION of the data in its parent, not a subset of it (which would make grouping awkward and counter intuitive at best; just easier not to)

NTL, Thanks so much for the insight

Not sure what you mean. You had subreport linking on Type fields so just do grouping on Type field.

BTW, Type is a reserved word and really should not use reserved words as names for objects.
