    Tables

Is there a downside to creating tables with only one (1) field? In need 3 tables like that because of the variable mix that the items might present themselves.

You don't mention how many rows that the table might have, but one field lookup tables are common.

Are you sure you don't need 1 table with a 3-field composite index? Not sure what your statement means, though.

We are in a competition with multiple Categories (ie Male, Female etc), several levels of achievement, several types of equipment. All compete at the same time. If there is enough competitors that match (5) hey they report in one group. If not they move up a a category.

There is no more that 12 records per table. Your comments made me try a combo box. I think that is the answer.
