    Design view - Forms

Hello to you all. I'm a complete novice. Learning with a 'Simon Sez it' course. Enjoying it very much.

However, there is one thing that annoys me with my Form view.

Using Access 365 on a home PC

My PC form view displays a tile background 1 square = 1 unit on the ruler. I assume it is cm.
Tutorial displays 1 square = 1 unit. I assume it is inches. The display has many dots inside the square.

I would like my view to match the tutors view.

I know it makes absolutely no difference to the running of the programme. It's just my preference.

Can anyone help me with changing my view.

    Regards

    Ross

    Hi Ross

I would imagine you would need to change your Regional Settings so that you are in the USA vice UK

Not worth the hassle in my opinion.

You can change the number of dots within a square if that's of any help but I think the max is 24 x 24. So maybe a number like 15 for you would look somewhat like the other person's view but I don't want to fudge my regional settings to check that out.

you can only see the dots if you use the US format of measurement in inches - reason is there are exactly 1440 twips to an inch so the dot location is easily specified. For metric 1cm= 566.929.... twips so not possible to derive an exact location. Why 1440 twips - because you will get whole numbers if you divide by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10,12 etc for common fractional parts of an inch - 3/8"=540 twips for example.

Edit - looks like you can get the dots - but they will be a different scale to your US version. In form design, select form properties. On the format tab scroll to near the bottom to see grid X and grid Y properties - change these to values somewhere between 2 and 9. The numbers represent the number of 'squares' within the main square - so a value of 9 will have 8 dots. (i.e. 1/9th cm spacing)

What a star! Thank you. 9 is excellent.

Just think, if I had lowered my guess by 6 it would be me getting all the glory.
