Do you only have this problem on one particular form?

If you create a new db with a single form and just create a command button to close the form, does the button display the correct colour?
If this helped, please click the star at the bottom left of this posting and add to my reputation . Many thanks.

Yes. It is a new popup form with only two controls, an image control plus the offending command button.

The app's DB has been around for a many years. I just tried to change the Back Color on a few command buttons on other forms and they too will not take affect. Also, I opened the source mdb of a previous version of the app and found that I am unable to change the Back Color or any of the command buttons. Same thing with a totally different app.

Newly created command buttons are typically a light gray by default. Why I'm instead seeing white Back Colors on newly created command buttons is a mystery in itself.

    I remain puzzled.

The properties Back Color thru Border Color, for Command Buttons, did not exist in Access v2007 and earlier (maybe v2010 and earlier...have no way to check.) For those versions, these properties, for Command Buttons, IIRC, were set by the Windows system properties.

I think that's why you can set the color buttons on new Forms but not on existing Forms.

    Hi Colin,
Yes, now that you mention the Access versions, I do recall some of the changes as we moved forward. As it is, the current app needs to remain at 2000-2003 so I can maintain right-click functionality. I'll mark this thread SOLVED so folks won't have anymore of their time wasted.
    Thanks,
    Bill
