When printing a report I get the Autonumber, not the text desired

I am confused. Access seems to have that affect on me. I have read that it's a good practice to use Autonumbers on all your Tables. When I try to save a selection from a Combo Box I can get it to display the column I want and it saves the choice in the Forms underlining Table as the choices Autonumber. So far so good, I think. But when I go to print a report, based on a query of that table, it prints the associated Autonumber instead of the desired text.

Typically your report would be based on a query that joined the two tables, enabling you to return the description as a field. An alternative is to use a combo on the report, but the query is the most common method.

join your data to the lookup table to convert the autonum to text (the needed field)
