Combining Column From Another Table Causing Big Increase in DB File Size

    Hi guys,

I have a database that is 142mb. I am trying to combine a column from one table with another table using Query Design. When I try this I get a "Cannot open database “. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt." error.

I've researched this and it seems to be because running the query causes the DB to jump to over 2GB in size.

The table is c470,000 rows long.

Am I doing something wrong (I'm a beginner)? Is there a better option?

    Thanks

I think I have found the issue... the way I was trying to combine the tables was causing the number of rows to multiply which made the DB size too big.

In plain English, what I am trying to do is to use the bowler ID in the BallByBall table to insert a new column with that bowler's bowling style from the Lineups table. In the Lineups table the bowler's ID is called playerId. See below. There will be many occurrences of the bowler ID and the playerId.

If anyone can point to how I can do this it would be appreciated.

    Thanks

You have started a new thread with basically the same problem? Is that because you didn't like the answers there?
