    Search Record Button

    Hi all, first post

Ok made a button in access 2016. Its a Find Record Button.
    I need to make the
Look In: to be Current Document
    and

    Match: Any Part of Field.

So the people using it can put in a partial phone number or name or what ever.

People I am writing this for will just never remember to change the defaults.

So I need to make those the defaults.

    thanks all

OK - so you've created a button but no code?

current document means all fields - the code for that is somewhat more complex. However your examples suggest they really only want to look in a specific field?

You are aware that if a user right clicks on a field they have these options and they can select which one they want

I'm about to go into a meeting for the rest of the day, but suggest you take a look at this link http://codevba.com/msaccess/docmd_fi...m#.XjBFq2j7SUk

Pardon me for poking my nose in here, but couldn't you just use the built in search box shown at the bottom of a form (next to the navigation buttons)
If this helped, please click the star at the bottom left of this posting and add to my reputation . Many thanks.

Yes they could, but as i have mention, these are not swift people, you have to program for the lowest ( brain cells) as you can.

So would like them to enter search parameters and click find.

    thanks

I do not like using the built in search/replace dialog box. Here is an article (and example dB) by Allen Browne about creating your own search form - you have a lot more control.

thanks for the input, but again that would take to many inputs from the user.

There must be a way to call those defaults and change them.
