American date format showing in mailmerge filter box when using english uk language

Hi All. database table and query showing English date format. When using mail merge it comes across as American format. I can add a switch \@ "dd/MM/yyyy" to convert so letters are printed correctly, however when I use the filter, the filter retains the date in American format. Whilst I can work around this, it is confusing for others using the mail merge feature. Is anyone aware of a fix for this problem. Many Thanks for any assistance!

you probably want to send it as
    Format([dateFld],"dd/mm/yyyy")
