Access/Outlook linked file use name instead if email adress in from field

    Hi All,
    Also new to MS Access.
I've downloaded a mail list manager dbase and linked it to a folder in my outlook (2016). I found that outlook sends the name in the from field instead of the email address. I've searched on google and could not find a solution. I tried to change the view in outlook but the name still gets send through and not the email.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It seems the 'from' should be the email address. Did you try putting an email addr there?
Since you didnt provide any code, that would seem the easy solution.

I linked to Outlook Contacts folder and there is no From field. What is source of data in posted table?

Where did you download this db from? Provide link or attach db to post.

I have attached the original sample.
In the data provided the from data is correct. Once I modify the dbase and link to my own Outlook folder and create a rule for all "unsubscribe" mail to go to the LinkManagerFolder the from data is converted to name and no email.

That sample looks incomplete. There are no forms and reports. You can download the MS Contacts db and incorporate the features of Unsubscribe sample.

I tested this and yes, I get name instead of email in the From field. The sample db is an mdb (created with Access 2003). I am opening with Access 2010. Perhaps Access linking to Outlook has changed in this respect. Or something to do with email DisplayAs format in Outlook Contacts. This is defined individually for each contact https://www.datanumen.com/blogs/chan...s-outlook-vba/

    And more https://www.slipstick.com/developer/...ail-addresses/

Unfortunately, I can only test by sending to myself and it displays my name instead of email and I don't even have a record in Contacts.

@rebelboss - the link you provided in post#5 is to an app you purchase from FMS. Is this the app you are using? If so, suggest you contact FMS. In the link provided, it would appear you need to set a rule for received emails along the lines of if message header contains 'mail delivery error' or 'unsubscribe' then move to ListManagerFolder. there may be other aspects of this rule which separates out the email address but the example does not appear to separate out in every case - 'mail delivery error' being a case in point.

Another link for obtaining email addresses from a selected outlook folder, but does require code and only gets the email address, but I would think can be extended to include other fields. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...-from-outlook#
