    2 users accessing 1 database

    Set up:

I have a front end with the forms and queries and a separate back end with the tables. Each user will have their own copy of the front end and will link it to the back end.

Questions: Can two users be accessing the back end at the same time? If so, can two users access the same record at the same time? If so, how does this work (i.e. can users see the changes live, which one overrides the other, etc.)?

If each user has their own copy of the FE then both can safely use it at the same time.
There are various methods of locking records to prevent issues when 2 users try to edit the same record simultaneously.
However, the principle is that the first user to access the record will be able to edit it but it will then be locked to other users

By "locked", do you mean they will be viewing in "Read Only" essentially?

Either read only access or possibly not be able to open the record at all.
Suggest you research the different methods of locking records

Not read only in the typical sense IMHO. In some cases they will be able to begin an edit but will only find out that it is locked when they try to save.
