    append query is changing values

Hi, I am currently running an append query that pulls from one table and appends another. Whenever i append the values from columns that are "long text" it changes the values to (what google says is) a singular mandarin character.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to stop this?

Potentially stupid question, but are the destination fields also long text?
