Question Adding costs to posts in table

    Hello,

I'm, for the first time ever, working with MS Access.
For several years I have been using Excel spreadsheets... but it is getting difficult to handle all the segmented data.

What I want is a system that keeps track of instruments in the market, with model, attached computer, version, location and costs.

So far I have created a table where each post/line is an instrument. Each instrument have a serial number and it is this serial number I use as the unique ID. The information in this table is more or less static.
I have attached a small picture of it.

What I want is to add date of intervention, travel hours, travel costs, work hours and spare parts costs to a instrument after a job is finished. There could be several interventions to each instrument.
How do I go about doing this? I tried using Object Dependencies but without success.

Not sure if I explained myself good enough...
All help would be greatly appriciated.

    Best regards...

    Thank you, orange.

By "instruments in the market" I mean instruments like weights, dispensing tools, heating blocks that have been sold to customers/end users. Each instrument is usually covered by a service agreement. What I want is to get an overview of service costs of each instrument by addings hours and costs after each intervention to instrument.

    Hope this clears it up.

    exxon,
Take a look through some of the topics in the Database Planning and Design link in my signature.
I recommend you work through 1 or 2 of the tutorials from RogersAccessLibrary mentioned in the link.
You'll learn more database basics by working through 1 or 2 of these (~45 min/per) than a lot of reading etc.
Once you get a feel for the process, you can create a design for your proposed database. For that, start with a broad(30,000 ft) description and gradually add details, build your model.....
    Good luck with your project.

    Hi orange,

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. By looking at the ZYX Laboratories tutorial figured out how to do it.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
