    Customize List from a Database

    Hi,

I am totally new in Access. Someone created a Database of school which contains all information about students i.e. Name, Father Name, Mother Name, Class, Section etc.

I want to create a list or report that should contain Class, Section and total number of students in per class and section i.e.

    Class Section Total Student
    I A 30

    I B 28
    II A 30
    II B 30

Is it possible in Access? If yes then how? I don't know anything advanced about Access so kindly if possible explain in easy way.
Now I am counting each class by using Filter Tool but it took too long as we have more than 1700 students.

    Thank you in advance.

Build an aggregate query and/or report using its Sorting & Grouping features and aggregate function in textbox. Have you studied an introductory tutorial book? This is really basic Access functionality.

How many columns did you end up with? CROSSTAB queries are often not practical for report output.

I got 14 Columns only. It include all classes & section and their total count.

It is not an ideal result but at least for novice like me is good result.Click image for larger version.
