Unhappy subform with subcategories from multi-select drop down

I have a subform that allows users to multi-select values from a combo box. Now they want to add subcategories to those values. Since they are selecting multiple values, I am not sure how to build this into a database that has been in use for a while.

    Example:
they select multiple values from the Error Precursor drop down and now want to add subcategories to those. If this were one value I could just add another combo box/drop down but since multiple, not sure how to accomplish.

    thanks

I have to say can't. A multi-value field is a pointer to related dependent hidden table. How would you identify unique record ID for each item in the MVF in order to associate dependent subcategory data? Something I've never tried because I NEVER use MVF. Build normal relational structure. This is a fairly major redesign of db.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
