Form query regarding starting of database

    Hello,
I have created a database to collect information from attendees at events that we attend.
When we open the database I want the form to open and then a prompt to ask our staff the name of the event they are attending. Once typed in I would like the name of the event on the form which is non-editable and with each attendee recorded and a new record created for the event to still be there.. Any ideas please?
    Many Thanks
    Andy

I can only answer this part of the question with any degree of certainty
When we open the database I want the form to open
Go to File>Options>Current Database and select your form where it says 'display form'

then a prompt to ask our staff the name of the event they are attending
suggest use a combo that lists all of the events and user selects the event
Once typed in I would like the name of the event on the form which is non-editable
use conditional formatting for the control - disable when not null

not at all clear what this means
and with each attendee recorded and a new record created for the event to still be there
you will need to clarify a lot more what you mean and what the real life process is - for example is each user completing this form from their own laptop? or is there one machine the users queue up to use?
